NO MORE SKIPPING PARTIES
OPENING SCENE: Mirva Sandström, who heads Digital Commerce Finland, is talking about the upcoming industry gala. Hannu, our digital mastermind, who's nominated for Innovator of the Year at the same gala, is nearby, doing what Hannu does, which is talking to everyone.
MIRVA: "My feet hurt so much I couldn't go to the afterparty last year."
HANNU (overhearing, filing this away for later): "Noted."
CUT TO a few weeks later. This year's gala is coming up. Mirva already knows what she's wearing: a Finnish design KAIKO dress. Hannu has an idea. He calls Henna Valkama, the designer behind KAIKO's prints.
HANNU: "What if the shoes matched the dress?"
HENNA: "Which shoes?"
HANNU: "Ours. You paint, we supply."
She agrees. A pair of ROMA Bone White arrives at her studio. Over the next few days, Henna hand-paints the leather to match the KAIKO print, brushstroke by brushstroke, until the shoe looks like it was born next to the dress. We have photos. We have VIDEO. Neither does the pair justice, honestly, you kind of had to be there.
Gala night: Mirva wears the dress, wears the shoes, and stays for the whole party.
MIRVA: "Zero pain. All night."
HANNU: "Told you we'd fix it."
