SHOES THAT FOUND A WAY
OPENING SCENE: Maija and Anna from Customer Care are having their own little Christmas party in Barcelona. Just the two of them, because they are the whole Barcelona team. Nursing a glass a red wine, they start reminiscing.
MAIJA: “This year was… a lot.”
ANNA: “Yeah it was. Ok, let’s do one story each. Highlights!”
ANNA: “Remember the US customer and the HELSINKI boots?”
MAIJA: “He wanted to return them because the fit wasn’t right.”
ANNA: “But he used the wrong courier to send them back.”
MAIJA: “We thought those boots were gone for good.”
ANNA: “Months later he emails us. The boots just show up back at his place.”
MAIJA: “And this time they fit him perfectly.”
MAIJA: “He was so happy. I still wonder where those boots went. What happened to make them a perfect fit?”
They wink.
MAIJA: “And then there was the UK customer. The ROMA Wool Laranja slippers.”
ANNA: “The last pair we had.”
MAIJA: “Carrier lost the parcel. We refunded him straight away.”
ANNA: “He was so disappointed, but really kind about it.”
MAIJA: “A few weeks later, we get an email from woman, living in the same city. She says she has the slippers. Wrong delivery.”
ANNA: “Lots of messages after that. Addresses, confirmations, thank yous flying back and forth.”
ANNA: “And in the end the slippers made it home. Exactly where they were meant to be.”
They sit quietly for a moment.
ANNA: “Some shoes really don’t give up.”
MAIJA: “Do you think... I mean, we are a Finnish company. Could Santa have something to do with all this. I mean, making the shoes fit and all...”
ANNA (laughs): “Put away the wine Maija! Sometimes I think parcels just have their own plans.”
MAIJA: “If Santa runs customer service, his inbox must be wild. Lost sleigh. Wrong chimney. Reindeer delayed.”
MAIJA: “At least he only does one night a year.”
They raise their glasses.
MAIJA: “To miracle journeys.”
ANNA: “And shoes that always find their way home.”
