OPENING SCENE: A customer has been in the Helsinki store for forty minutes. She has tried on three pairs of ROMAs, one pair of SAINT TROPEZ Woven, and absolutely nobody's patience, because Jaana is enjoying this enormously. At the big table in the back, Antton, Tara and Hannu are working on their laptops, pretending not to listen.
CUSTOMER: "I love these. I really do. But my husband already has a pair."
JAANA: "In this colour?"
CUSTOMER: "This exact colour. Cognac Brown."
Jaana looks at her over her oversized frames. Long pause.
Customer picks up a pair of ZUMAs in Preto Black. Puts them down again.
CUSTOMER: "He has these too."
JAANA: "How many pairs does he have?"
CUSTOMER: "Four."
JAANA: "All our shoes are unisex. Every single model. So you can get the same pair."
CUSTOMER: "But would he hate that? He'll say we look ridiculous."
JAANA: "Then he can change."
CUSTOMER: "The shoes?"
JAANA: "His attitude."
Jaana lets that sit for a moment.
JAANA: "Can I tell you something? Couples who wear the same shoes argue less."
CUSTOMER: "That's not a real statistic."
JAANA: "No. But it's true. Think about it. End of a long day. Nobody's limping. Nobody's saying 'my feet are killing me, I’m in a bad mood.' Nobody's saying 'I told you not to wear those.'"
Jaana nods towards the back table.
JAANA: "And look at this example of matchy matchy unisex."
Three pairs of white LONDON sneakers. Side by side. Antton, Tara, Hannu.
HANNU (without looking up): "We did not plan this."
The customer laughs and puts the Cognac Browns on the counter.
CUSTOMER: "I'll find a way to make this romantic."
As she leaves, another woman walks in.
WOMAN: "My husband already has a pair..."
Jaana slowly takes off her glasses.
JAANA: "Of course he does."
