ONE FOOTBED, TWO FOOTBED
OPENING SCENE Jaana has been helping a customer who wants to buy a pair of HELSINKI boots with extra Shearling footbeds. Kalle is pretending not to rearrange things. Jaana notices and calmly drags Kalle away from her meticulously organized counter.
JAANA: “I’ve been doing a small personal favor to our customers. I’ve been telling them to get an extra pair of Shearling footbeds for winter. Maybe you could refill the shelves with them?”
KALLE: “Smart. Shearlings for the winter, swap out to regular footbeds for spring.”
JAANA: “Folks really love the fact that when the footbed wears out, you don’t throw away the shoe. You just replace the footbed.”
KALLE: “Like in a marriage, you don’t throw the wife away, you just replace your attitude.”
JAANA: “Exactly. Makes the shoes and marriage last much longer.”
The customer walks to the counter, ready to pay.
KALLE (helpfully): “And remember, the Shearling goes on top of the regular footbed.”
Jaana freezes. Slow turn.
JAANA: “Kalle.”
KALLE: “What?”
JAANA: “No.”
KALLE (laughing): “I’m joking.”
JAANA: “Do NOT joke about footbed stacking.”
JAANA (to the customer): “This is why I’m the one to explain things.”
KALLE (with a twinkle in his eye): “And this is why I’m not allowed to. I’ll get back to CEO duties, shall I?”
What's so special about the Carbon Step™ footbed?
Our Carbon Step™ footbed is designed to be removable and replaceable. When it eventually wears out, you don’t need to replace the whole shoe. You simply swap in a new footbed.
It’s a small design choice that makes your VIBAe shoes last much longer. Better for your wallet. Better for the planet.
Some of our customers have reported wearing their shoes almost 24/7 (yes, even falling asleep in them), so in those cases, the footbeds naturally flatten faster. You might notice they feel a bit less supportive or even get a bit smelly in scorching hot weather.
Trust your feet—they will let you know when it is time for a fresh pair. For most people, changing the footbeds once a year or every two years is plenty.
